Our Review

In '14 French-born Clémence Haselgrove launched her label L'Enclos du Tertre, 14 years after she left her home in Bordeaux to pursue a career as a winemaker in Australia. After stints at Balnaves and Rymill in Coonawarra, South Australia, and seven years as chief winemaker at Forest Hill in Denmark, Western Australia, she now makes wines under her own L'Enclos du Tertre, Tertre and Unusual Suspects labels from vineyards she’s leased in Frankland River and Margaret River. Under Tertre, the most premium of the three, Clémence makes a GSM from old, dry-grown vines in Frankland River, fermented in barrels under light pressure, and an incredibly concentrated cabernet sauvignon from 45-year-old dry-grown vines in Willyabrup, Margaret River. The wines she produces under her mid-tier L’Enclos du Tertre label show strong definition and varietal interpretation. -ANNA WEBSTER
