Our Review
Forester Estate is owned by Kevin and Jenny McKay. The name is a nod to the forestry industry that thrived here in the 1850s. Winemaker Todd Payne has had a distinguished career, working in Great Southern, the Napa Valley, Hawke’s Bay and the northern Rhône, including a vintage with esteemed producer Yves Cuilleron, before moving back to WA to complete the circle. The estate vineyards were planted in ’95 and fruit from older vines is sourced from other growers in the region. The tasting room is housed in a French Renaissance-style castle, built in '07. -JAMES HALLIDAY
