Leon Tokar, a very successful businessman, and wife Rita dreamed of a weekender and hobby farm and it was largely by chance that in '95 they found a scruffy paddock fronting onto Maddens Lane. By the end of the day they had signed a contract to buy the property. The Tokars wasted no time and, by ’99, had planted their 12ha vineyard and built a Mediterranean-inspired cellar door and restaurant. -JAMES HALLIDAY
