Tokar Estate

Leon Tokar, a very successful businessman, and wife Rita dreamed of a weekender and hobby farm and it was largely by chance that in 1995 they found a scruffy paddock fronting onto Maddens Lane. By the end of the day they had signed a contract to buy the property. The Tokars wasted no time and by ’99, had planted their 12ha vineyard and built a Mediterranean-inspired cellar door and restaurant. Martin Siebert has been winemaker for many years, making consistently good wines and, with son Daniel Tokar as general manager, has full responsibility for the day-to-day management of the business. -JAMES HALLIDAY
