Long Gully Estate

Established by Reiner and Irma Klapp in the 1980s, a declining Long Gully Estate was purchased in 2018 by the Magdziarz family in partnership with Vin Lopes. Significant investment in the vineyards, cellar door and the winery followed, with winemakers living onsite in tents during the ‘19 vintage and relying on fruit from Warramunda and elsewhere for both the ‘19 and ‘20 vintages. Plantings of chardonnay, pinot noir, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, riesling, shiraz, merlot and viognier have been rescued, with further pinot noir and cabernet added too. The ‘21 vintage was the first from estate fruit under the new owners. Exports to the UK, Switzerland and Singapore. -TYSON STELZER
