Stone Bridge Wines

South Australia | Clare Valley

Our Review

‘From little things, big things grow’ is certainly true for Craig and Lisa Thomson, who planted 0.6ha of shiraz in 1997 and now own 85ha in 3 locations across the Clare Valley. They crush around 150t, more than 10 times their first batch in ’05 when they launched the Stone Bridge Wines label and cellar door. They make grenache, riesling, shiraz, malbec, pinot gris and sangiovese, along with sparkling wines made in the traditional method. Their winery is also a contract processing plant for local and interstate wine labels. Visitors to the rammed earth cellar door can enjoy pizza from the wood-fired oven made by Craig, a baker by trade. Exports to Canada, Denmark, Singapore and China. -JAMES HALLIDAY
