Krondorf

South Australia | Barossa

Our Review

The small hamlet of Krondorf, German for 'Crown Village,' was established by a handful of Silesian families in 1847 and has become a name intrinsically linked with the Australian wine industry. The brand itself came into being during the 1960s and ’70s and a group of young winemakers, led initially by Grant Burge, carved a reputation for the wine culminating in taking out the Jimmy Watson Trophy in ’80. The label has been through its ups and downs but has been recently revitalised with winemaker Nick Badrice in charge, producing wines that speak strongly of both the region and the brand's historical bloodline. -DAVE BROOKES
