Ten Miles East

South Australia | Adelaide Hills

Our Review

Ten Miles East takes its name from the fact that it is that distance and direction from the Adelaide GPO. Established by industry veteran John Greenshields (many years ago, John founded Koppamurra, the vineyard now owned by Tapanappa), and Robin and Judith Smallacombe and is, to put it mildly, an interesting one. Its vineyard in the Adelaide Hills is planted principally to shiraz, sauvignon blanc and saperavi, with smaller plantings of pinot noir (eight clones), arneis, riesling and carmenere. The winery and cellar door are in what was once the Auldwood Cider Factory, built in 1962. In January 2014, John's daughter Taiita and her husband, James Champniss, assumed ownership. -JAMES HALLIDAY
