Our Review
There is more to this venture than meets the eye. The simple explanation is that the business is a collective of young winemakers and young wine lovers, intent on building a wine business targeted at ?new generation' wine drinkers, people in their late 20s and early 30s. So far, so good. But the winemaking team leaders are all very experienced: Tim Burvill, consultant winemaker, once with the ultra-premium whites team at Penfolds, and thereafter winemaker and proprietor of Rockbare; Richie Harkham, based in the Hunter Valley; and Dave Mackintosh, of the Yarra Valley, where he wears a number of hats. Much of the wine portfolio comes from Adelaide Hills: Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Gris, Rose and Pinot Noir, plus Limestone Coast Cabernet Sauvignon and McLaren Vale Shiraz. The funding for this far-flung wine business comes from the two owners, Mike Smith and Glen Cassidy. -JAMES HALLIDAY
