Our Review
Helmed by Steve Smith MW, who established Hawke’s Bay superstar Craggy Range, and Brian Sheth, Smith & Sheth is a negociant label which crafts wines from top vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, Marlborough and Central Otago. The bulk – their ‘village’ wines – are produced under the CRU label, and include a chardonnay, albariño, cabernet franc, syrah, sauvignon blanc and pinot noir. There’s also a Gimblett Gravels syrah and another chardonnay released under the Grand CRU label. Their Havelock North cellar door, or Village Oenothèque (French for wine library), also offers wines from renowned North Canterbury producer Pyramid Valley, which Steve and Brian also own. -ANNA WEBSTER
