Our Review
Pepper Tree is owned by former geologist and oil explorer Dr John Davis. It sources the majority of its Hunter Valley fruit from its Davis Family Tallavera Grove Vineyard at Mt View, but also has premium vineyards at Orange (Carillion Vineyard), Coonawarra (Calcare Vineyard) and Wrattonbully (Stonefields Vineyard). Jim Chatto's appointment as consultant winemaker (effective from the ’23 vintage) is the second time that Chatto has had ultimate responsibility for the wines, previously ’07–14. By chance, the '23 vintage represents the 10th anniversary of the blissful ’13 wines made under his direction. -JAMES HALLIDAY
