Poachers Vineyard

New South Wales | Canberra District | Ngunnawal

Our Review

Poachers Vineyard, owned by the Bruce family, shares its home with the Poachers Pantry, a renowned gourmet smokehouse. The quality of the wines is very good. The northeast-facing slopes, at an elevation of 720m, provide some air drainage and hence protection against spring frosts. -JAMES HALLIDAY

Food

Information

The Smokehouse Café is set in a quaint weatherboard farmhouse surrounded by beautiful country gardens. The Cafe serves a delicious range of contemporary Australian dishes using the traditionally smoked meats produced on the property as well as local ingredients.
Indoor and outdoor seating, two- or three-course menu, platter options, wine tasting and picnics available. Chef: Jennie Tresslier.
A range of events are held at the Smokehouse Cafe throughout the year including the annual Summerside Festival – a celebration of summer – and the Fireside Festival – a celebration of winter. 100-mile dinners are held regularly, with all produce sourced from within a 100-mile radius of Poachers Panty, supporting regional producers and reducing food miles from farm to kitchen. Our five-course degustation dinners matched to the Wily Trout wines grown on the property's vineyard are outstanding. The Smokehouse Cafe has been listed in the Sydney Morning Herald Good Food Guide for several years.
