Hunter Valley wine styles
As Australia's oldest wine region, the Hunter Valley has a long history of producing interesting wines with great ageing potential. The region's warm conditions can pose challenges but, when managed well, result in standout semillon, shiraz and chardonnay expressions, among others.
The latter two grape varieties are well represented in the list of wines below, with highly rated chardonnays from Usher Tinkler Wines and Hollydene Estate, and shiraz wines from Briar Ridge Vineyard, Meerea Park, Tyrrell's Wines and Latitude 32.

Although it's home to long-established winemaking families and traditions, the Hunter Valley also has a number of up-and-comers bringing fresh energy and varieties to the region. Try, for example, the Fiano from Briar Ridge Vineyard, or the Rosé from Latitude 32, made from a blend of shiraz, pinot noir and merlot.
Each of these eight wines have been rated 90 points and above by the Halliday Tasting Team. Find your new favourite below.
